BYD Seal Review Australia 2025 0-100 Price Range
The BYD Seal, is arguably the best value for money car available in the Australian Market today. Even the base variant, priced at 47 thousand dollars, has a proper, rear-wheel-drive platform, and is delightfully laden, with features like Ventilated Front Seats. It is not a very exciting prospect in terms of performance though. It takes almost 8 seconds to reach a hundred kph, thanks to its portly kerb weight of close to two tons. If you value enjoyment in your driving, the Polo GTi is definitely the better pick. It is a good six hundred kilos lighter, than the Seal. Plus it is five grand cheaper, to make up for the fuel bills, that you would otherwise save with an EV. In terms of acceleration, the Polo is hardly one second quicker than the Seal. But the sheer feel and feedback, from a six hundred kilo lighter vehicle, can only be believed, after driving it. Truth be told, the Polo GTi is way more feel-some and rewarding, even compared to the mid-range variant of the Seal. And given the Seal premium's fifty three grand price tag, it negates any petrol savings over the Polo GTi, over the next five to seven years. The only reason to really get an EV as an enthusiast, is if you go straight for a used model 3 performance. It is available for as low as thirty five grand today, 12 grand less than the base-seal. But it's performance is on another level altogether. It can effortlessly out-drag a Porsche nine-eleven in a straight line. Don't forget, the nine eleven, is nine times more expensive, than a used Model 3 Performance! There's a Seal EV Performance, also available in it's model line-up, with almost as good acceleration as the Tesla. But all that is besides the point, if Elon gets permission, to unleash his unsupervised autonomy on the Australian roads. Today, the cheapest Tesla, having the A.I. four hardware is available for fifty one grand. The Seal EV, in it's current avatar, is not going to able to match Tesla in this regard. Maybe around three years down the line, BYD will be able to pull a deep-seek like disruption onto Tesla's AI. But till then the base Model three remains your best bet. Just imagine, how you could put it to use, in cases, like dropping you off at the Airport, and driving back to your home, by itself. Or even, taking you home from a late night at the pub, with your buddies, having had a few extra drinks, while you snooze safely in the back-seat. By now you must have realized, that this is not the usual walk-around video review that you usually find on YouTube, but basically an overview showing where the BYD Seal stands, with respect to competition from new as well as the used car market today.
