Geely EX5 vs MG4 2025

Its been 2 years since the launch of the MG 4 EV, and the latest competition is still struggling, to match the old car. First and foremost, is the M-G's charging speed.

Ignore the lowest variant, and you get an impressive, one-forty kilowatt, DC charging capability, in the 64 & 77 kilowatt hour models of the MG 4. The Geely E-X5, is capped at 100 kilowatt. Note that the 64 kilowatt-hour variant, of the MG-4, is only one grand more expensive, than the entry level Geely.

Not to forget, the Geely, has a smaller, 60 kilowatt hour battery. That is why, the Geely's range, is also a bit less, than the 64 kilowatt-hour models of the MG-4. However, the Geely fights back with a more substantial presence, thanks to bigger dimensions than the MG-4.

This has also resulted in a bigger boot, compared to the MG. The Geely E-X-5 also trumps the MG when it comes to the interiors. The MG-4 has already started showing it's age, especially on the inside.

And that is why there's a brand new model launching in the third quarter of twenty twenty five, already giving sleepless nights to it's local as well as global competitors. In terms of performance, the Geely has a slight edge over a similarly priced variant of the MG-4.

But lets not forget, there's the 429 h-p X-power variant on offer, in MG's showrooms, which can decimate Porsches in a drag race. On the matter of charging speeds, both cars here have missed a huge opportunity, to offer charging ports on both sides of their vehicles, as shown by BYD.

Today, most of the DC chargers are 50 to 60 kilowatt only. Geely could have easily outsmarted MG by giving one more charging port, negating MG's 140 kilowatt advantage. Regardless, buyers are still bound to gravitate towards the Geely, due to it's crossover look and upmarket ambience.

Check out the pinned comment for a detailed comparison of tech and equipment, between the comparable variants of both the vehicles. Last but not the least, for those with an enthusiast bent of mind, note that the MG-4 is rear wheel drive, whereas the Geely is a front wheel drive.

You will notice the difference in dynamics every time you go on and off the throttle, owing to the fundamental difference in the way a front wheel drive car reacts versus a rear wheel drive vehicle.

Plus, a side-note, for those living in icy climates, the MG-4 X-power has all-wheel-drive, while the Geely doesn't, which can become the single most important parameter for your vehicle selection.
