Deepal E07 vs BYD Shark

The Deepal E07 is a far more civilized ute, compared to the BYD Shark, making it better in 3 crucial parameters. First is the comfort. The Deepal E07 is based on a monocoque platform, like the Ford Maverick. It is not a ladder frame platform like the BYD's. This gives it better body control, refinement and ride comfort, compared to any other ladder frame pick-up. On top of that, there's adaptive air suspension on its higher variants, smoothening out your ride even further. Interestingly, the Deepal has a massive wheelbase, in spite of being a bit short on length. In fact, it's wheelbase is just 4 percent shorter than the Shark. This has translated to a fantastic interior space, matching that of the Shark. What's even more impressive, is the Deepal's interiors! They are a definitive step, above the Shark in terms of luxury. Even the feature-list, is more than a match for the Shark. With two lidars, five millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 11 cameras, all controlled by NVIDIA’s Orin-X chip, self driving is also on point. Check out the pinned comment, for a detailed comparison of equipment and tech. Now coming to the juicy part, which is the Deepal's battery. It is bigger than the Shark's battery by 9 kilowatt hours.

But the best part, is its range! It is more than twice the Shark's, thanks of course it's lower kerb weight as well. Then there's the electrically operated glass tonneau cover over it's tray. And the tray itself is an interesting space. At first it looks much smaller than traditional yutes. But when you fold the rear seats, open the partition behind them, and flip the tailgate, you end up with a massive tray, unmatched by any ladder frame pick-up. And talking about ladder frames, it is high time we stop idolizing them, now that the Land Rover Defender, has also given up, on that ancient technology! Performance ain't no slouch either. Especially, the all wheel drive version, with 56 h-p more than the Shark, it is point six of a second quicker, to a hundred k-p-h. And that, brings us to the final parameter, which is pricing. Now the base plugin hybrid, is slightly more expensive than the base Sea-lion 7 in China. That puts its starting price at par with the Shark. Let's not forget, the payload and the towing capacity, is going to be lower than the Shark. So would buyer's really be tempted just by the impressive range, away from the Shark. To be honest, seems highly unlikely! Links to sources for all the data has been posted in the pinned comment as well.
